Chairing a meeting of all departmental heads at the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Wednesday, Sharma said the aim and objective of the census is not merely undertaking a headcount of people, but getting an all-round picture of the status of each family in various heads.
“The census also encompasses gathering basic information on economic activity of a family, literacy and education, facilities enjoyed by the family, birth and death rate, scheduled caste and tribes, language, religion and migration,” he said.
He said enumerators had the larger responsibility of collecting accurate information from the citizens in the second phase.
Sharma also said that the information collected through the census is very much important to make policies and implement through Panchayat Raj institutions.
