Kasaragod, February 10: As many as 11 youth were injured, two of them seriously, following clashes between SKSSF and SSF activists at a madrasa in Chinnamugar on Tuesday night.
The Samastha Kerala Sunni Students' Federation, SKSSF, activists Yusef (35) a native of Chinnamugar, Rahim (25), Ibrahim Mohammed (26), and Sunni Students' Federation (SSF) activist Zainudeen Abid (24), were rushed to a private hospital in Mangalore. Two of them received stab injuries. The condition of Yousef was said to be critical.
SSF activists T H Abbas Madani (32), A Salim (24), Ayub (25), Mohammed Haneef, (21), Mukthar (17), Abubacker (30), and Jaleel (28) were admitted to the cooperative hospital in Kumbla.
The clashes occurred at the Chinnamugar madrasa while Madani was teaching students. The clashes reportedly erupted following a dispute over the syllabus taught at the Madrasa .
SSF activists said a group of AISSF activists who came from outside flashed a knife on Abbas Madani who was taking the class. When the students cried aloud Madani was dragged outside and beaten up.
But SKSSF leaders said that they were coming to the madrasa with the new books to be taught as per the syllabus. The SKSSF had secured a favorable order from the court regarding the new syllabus.
The SKSSF leaders said they were attacked by SSF activists with lethal weapons. A house of a SKSSF activist was also attacked following the clashes, it is reported.
