Mangalore, February 12: Justice Rajender Sachar has termed the Somashekara Commission of Inquiry's report on chucch attacks as "scary".
Speaking after holding consultation swith some human rights organisations during his visit to the city, Justice Sachar expressed surprise over the panel's inability to identify the people behind the attack on churches.
"Somashekara panel has acknowledged the attacks on churches. Ironically, the panel has failed to pin down the culprits," Sachar, who was the head of the Union government's high-powered committee that looked into the plight of Muslims, remarked.
"The aggrieved parties can now go to High Court and file complaints against the attacks. Only awareness among the people can help ensure delivery of justice." Justice Sachar opined.
When asked if the church attack incidents can be entrusted to the CBI for investigation, Sachar said, the stage government's permission was required to launch such an inquiry.
"Order by a court or Union government's decision are key factors in deciding whether a case can be entrusted to the CBI or not?," he said.
PUCL state president PB D'sa had convened the consultation meeting.
