VHP, Bajarang Dal to organise mass marriage on Feb 20

Mangalore, February 18: The Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP), Bajrang Dal and Maruti Seva Samiti will organise a mass marriage ceremony at Mosaru Kudike Katte of Attavar on Sunday, February 20 at 4 pm.

Addressing the media persons at Press Club here on Friday, Jagadish Shenava, VHP leader said that as many as 12 couples will tie the knots on the occasion.

The brides will get 'Mangalsuthra' of one pawan gold, saree and toering while grooms will get dress, turban putting the cost incurred per couple at Rs 30,000.

'Mass Satyanarayana Puja' will also be held on the occasion. Above 6,000 people are expected to participate. A procession from Chakrapani temple to the venue will be organised.

Sri Vishweshteertha Swamiji, Pejawar Math and Sri Rajashekaranand Swamiji, will deliver benedictory speeches on the occasion.


Dayananda Pai of Century Builders will preside over the function.


Krishna J Palemar, District in-Charge Minister, N Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, State Legislative Assembly, Seemanth Kumar Singh, City Police Commissioner, Sudhakar Shenoy, Jithendra Kottary and others will participate.

M Vivek Prabhu, Manohar Suvarna,and others were present at the press conference.

Mangaluru: Police have arrested five miscreants belonging to saffron outfits for pelting stones at a masjid at Katipalla near Surathkal on the outskirts of the city last night. 

The arrested have been identified as Bharat, Chennappa, Nitin, Manu and Sujit all residents of Surathkal and surrounding areas. Among them, Bharat is said to be a rowdy sheeter. 

The miscreants, who came on two motorbikes late on Sunday night, pelted stones at Masjidul Huda, located at 3rd block of Katipalla on the eve of Miladunnabi.  

Confirming the incident, City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that investigation is in progress and a case has been registered at Surathkal police station.
