Mangalore, February 18: 'Namma Angadi', a three-day exhibition-cum-sale of rural products is underway at Ravindra Kala Bhavan on the premises of University College, here.
The exhibition was formally launched by Mangalore University Registrar Prof Chinnappa Gowda on Friday morning.
Speaking on the occasion he said, the concept of Namma Angadi has been derived from Gandhian school of thought, which upholds Swadeshi movement.
Mr Gowda said these home made products are the foundation of Swadeshi movement, which according to him, was once responsible for bringing freedom to this country. “These are not only products, but also thoughts of the father of our nation,” he added.
The exhibition displays handicrafts, handlooms, and eco friendly products such as cotton kurta for men and women, shirts, lavancha products, kalamkari dress material, artistic saris, children's clothing, traditional utensils, home accessories, terracotta products, traditional footwear, ethnic jewelry, pure wild honey, kokum, shikakati, aloe vera soaps, rare paintings, organic food products, wooden furniture, key chains, earrings, articles etc.
Advocate P P Hegde was the guest of the honour at the inaugural ceremony.. Laxmi Shenoy A, the public relations coordinator of Namma Angadi, Anil Biddappa, and Nishanth Kaverappa, the event coordinators were also present.
'Namma Angadi' will be open for the public between 10.00 am to 9.00 pm till Sunday, February 20.
