Mangalore, February 19: Cable television viewers in Mangalore will be able to watch ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 now, Jeethendra, a director V 4 Media, said on Friday.
The two-month-old dispute between Mangalore-based cable operator V4 Media and ESPN Star Sports had kept viewers guessing about whether or not they would get to watch the showpiece cricketing event. The issue was being heard by the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).
ESPN Star Sports spokesperson has declined to comment on the issue.
Neither V4 Media nor ESPN Star Sports had a copy of the court, they said.
ESPN Star Sports had accused V4 Media of violating Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regulation by switching off three channels “unilaterally” without giving the mandatory 21-day notice.
It also accused operator of “owing huge outstanding” to it. V4 Media had alleged that the broadcasters wanted to increase the price for beaming the World Cup by 50 per cent. He had declined to divulge the amount.
