Mangalore, February 24: To pay tribute to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 150th birth anniversary, St Aloysius College will celebrate 'Tagore's Day' on February 26 under the auspices of Department of English and Durga Puja and Dussera Celebration Committee at St Aloysius College here.
Melisa Goveas, Orgainising Secretary, told mediapersons at Press Club here on Thursday that the programme will commence at 10 am with the intercollegiate fest “EngQuest Twenty 11”. The Fest would feature talks, quiz, singing and drama competitions based on the life and works of Tagore.
In the evening, a ballet on the life, personality, philosophy and works of Tagore will be held. The full life view of the poet from the cradle to grave will be enacted on the stage. Simultaneously, power point presentations of the poet's life will be featured.
Recitation of Tagore's selected poems, Rabindra Nrithya, Rabindra Sangeet and Rabindra Ballet will be performed in Shanthinikethan style.
Three ballets such as Balmiki Prativa, Chandalika and Chitrangada will be performed.
Rev Fr Swebert D'Silva, Principal, St Aloysius College, Mangalore, Prof Lourdsamy, Head, English Department of the College, were present at the press meet.
