Mangalore, February 26: Children with disabilities at Dr M V Shetty College of Speech and Hearing, Panjimogaru had a reason to smile on Saturday, February 26, as Former New Zealand skipper Chris Cairns interacted and spent some quality time with them.
Cairns, who was accompanied by Joseph Rego, CEO, Global Sports and Celebrity, was very impressed with these children who manage everything by themselves. The faculty members of Dr M V Shetty College of Speech and Hearing explained the methodology involved in rehabilitating these children.
Dr T A Subba Rao, Principal of the College, explained the course, content and audiology and Speech Therapy and how to make use of this effectively in training children. Cairns went around and spent nearly half an hour in the unit by interacting with children and cutting the cake presented to him in his honour.
The faculty and students while welcoming Chris Cairns expressed their sympathy towards the earthquake victims in New Zealand and his concern for the disabled children.
Dr Ramgopal Shetty, Secretary, and Hima Urmila Shetty, Trustee of Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust were present.
