Pulse polio drive: Udupi achieves 93 pc success, 84pc compliance in DK

Mangalore, February 28: Dakshina Kannada district has registered 84.29 per cent success in the second phase of pulse polio drive held here on Sunday, according to District Health and Family Welfare officer Dr OR Srirangappa.
There are 1,70,721 children who are below five years old in the district. Of which, 1431 are children of migrant labourers.
Mangalore taluk has recorded 77.7 per cent success while Puthur has seen 89.44 compliance. The success rates in other taluks are: Belthangady 92.72 per cent, Bantwal 87.51 per cent, Sullia 92.01 per cent.
Meanwhile, Udupi district has registered 93 per cent success in the second phase of pulse polio drive.
There are 87,198 children who are below five years old in the district. Of which, 81,340 children were administered with polio drops. Kundapur taluk has recorded 94 per cent.
In Udupi taluk, polio drops were administered to 36,616 children, thus achieving 94 per cent. Karkala taluk has recorded 95 per cent with 15,239 children being administered with pulse polio drops.
The pulse polio drive was inaugurated by Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya.
