Shirva, March 1: Freedom fighter, senior educationist, agriculturist, and retired Principal of Innanje PU College, Pangala Vittal Shenoy passed away at a private hospital in Manipal after a brief illness on Monday. He was 89.
Shenoy, who served as the President of Vidyavardaka Sangha, was active in religious, cultural, social and spiritual activities.
He was the first person to establish more than 450 Krishi Sanghas to impart education on agriculture. He was the founder secretary of Syndicate Krishi Prathistana.
He had written more than 30 plays in Konkani, Tulu, Kannada and English and had also authored several books.
After retiring as Principal of Innanje PU College, he had served as founder Head Master of Shankarapura High School. He had rendered his service as member of Renovation Committee of Katapady temple as well.
Shenoy was also honored with “Suvarna Karnataka Rajyothsava” award given by Udupi district administration.
He is survived by three sons and four daughters.
