Kasargod, March 1: The Indo Arab Confederation organized a campaign to enroll the maximum number of expatriates and their families in the voters' list for the upcoming assembly polls here on Tuesday. A help desk was also setup to offer them support and advise in this regard.
The Indo Arab Confederation called upon the expatriate voters to utilise the opportunity graciously allowed by the election commission.
KATA vice-president N A Sulaiman said the expatriates who are in their native places at the time of polling can cast their votes provided they have their photo ID card with them and name enrolled in the voters' list.
The campaign was inaugurated by M P Shafi, a NRI global award winner and an expatriate of Quarter by presenting his application to the Deputy Tahasildar V Ravindran at the collectorate.
Sulaiman said the expatriates vote can change the balance in the constituencies where the candidates have been elected with a thin majority. The expatriate's votes can make a huge change in the election verdict, he added.
The Gulf Malayalees would take collective stand to vote for the political parties which take up the various issues of the expatriates.
C T Ahammedali MLA presided over the function. Indo Arab Confederation chairman Attakoya Pallikkandy and general secretary Hassainar Talangara addressed the expatriates.
