Elderly woman dies after being thrown out of bus

Mangalore, March 2: An elderly woman died on spot after she got thrown out of a KSRTC bus near Beeri junction at Kotekar village in Mangalore taluk on Tuesday evening.

Ullal police have identified the victim as Sundari (55), wife of Rama Mulya, a resident of Kotekar.

The bus bearing Registration No KA 19, F2786, was advancing towards Mangalore from Kasaragod. The tragedy occurred when the woman was getting ready to get down at Beeri junction.

A police officer quoting a passenger said that when the bus was about to reach Beeri junction, the conductor began to shout asking if there is anyone in the bus who would want to get down at Beeri. The woman who was sitting on a seat near the door immediately stood up. Within a couple of seconds, she was thrown out of the door as the bus shook a bit due to rash driving.

Ullal police, who have registered a case of fatal road mishap attributed the accident to the rash and negligent driving on part of Bhimappa Krishnappa Madar, driver of the bus, and have taken him into custody.
