Udupi, March 2: Kota police have arrested two persons illegally carrying deadly weapons to supply them to the underworld criminals of Bangalore.
When the Sub Inspector of Kota Police Station along with his team was on a routine check up on the NH-17, in front of the Airody Gram Panchayath office on Tuesday night, the police stopped a Ford Icon vehicle bearing registration number KA 05 8105, coming from Hangarakatte.
Seeing police two from the vehicle started fleeing. Police chased them in the dark and were successful in nabbing them.
The arrested have been identified as Ganesh alias Jeethu (25), a resident of Kanakapur road, Bangalore and Dhruv Kumar (23), a resident of JP Nagar, Bangalore.
Two talwars, a knife, a steel rod and a sachet of chilly powder have been recovered from them.
During the investigation the arrested admitted to have been carrying the weapons to supply them to the criminals in Bangalore and also had the intention to kill somebody and rob the lonely persons by sprinkling chilly powder at them.
A case under the Arms Act had been booked against the arrested.
