Mangalore, March 3: Mangalore City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh on Thursday inaugurated the renovated Police Control Room, which will be soon equipped with the latest technology.
With this, the city police have advanced a step further in using technology for effective policing.
Located near the office of Commissioner, the control room will also supervise the GPS fitted CPR vehicles of the Commissionerate as Singh has suggested that a GPS server be set up in the same room.
Speaking on the occasion Commissioner Singh expressed hope that the new system will bring transparency and help improve law and order situation in the region.
He also informed that the television screens will be installed inside the control room through which the staff can directly watch the scenes captured by the CCTV cameras installed in various parts of the city.
Comparing the role of control room inside the Commissionerate to the brain in human body, Deputy Commissioner of Police R Ramesh, stated that the smooth functioning of the control room is necessary to maintain law and order under the jurisdiction.
He said although the set up of Commissionerate in Mangalore has reduced the limits, the responsibility of the police has increased. “To carry out our responsibility, better facilities are required” he added.
He said the control room staff will soon be given special training to elevate their performance.
