Puttur, March 6: Police have taken a government bus conductor into custody on charges of misbehaving with a girl student onboard the bus in front of other passengers.

The accused is Laxman, hailing from Gadag.

It is reported that the conductor Laxman pulled the veil of a girl student, when she showed her student bus pass to the former.

The incident occurred on Thursday, when the girl, hailing from Sediyapu village was on her way to the school located at Shanthingar in Puttur.

According to the complaint lodged at Puttur police station by the parents of the girl, the conductor deliberately insulted her in front of other passengers and pulled her veil saying that her student pass was duplicate.

Action urged

Meanwhile Campus Front of India has urged the concerned officials to take immediate action against the conductor, who according to it, has violated the human rights of the girl.

“After facing insult in the public the girl has been suffering from depression and she may stop her education half way through. It is the responsibility of the concerned department and officials to take legal action against the culprit”, a release from the organization said.
