Mangalore, March 7: Two under-trial prisoners, who were supposed to be produced before a court in Kerala, escaped from KSRTC Bus Stand in the city after allegedly overpowering three policemen.

The escapees are T H Riyad and Mohammad Rafeeq, both hailing from Kerala. Facing various cases of theft and assault in various places, they had been lodged in Chikmagalur prison.

They managed to escape from the hands of police in the pretext of going to attend to natures' call after getting down from a government bus at around 6:30 pm on Sunday.

Police from Barke police station, where a case has been registered in this connection, said that both the prisoners vanished after overpowering their supervisor soon after they were allowed to go to toilets.

They were supposed to board a Kerala bound bus at 7:00pm on same day police said.
