Kasaragod, March 10: Police have registered a case of molestation of minor girls aged between 10 and 12. The police are on the lookout for a man who sexually exploited the girls at a gambling den in Kumbla.
The incident came to light when the teachers of the school found hundred rupee notes with them. They informed the matter to the activists of the Child Line. A girl complained to the Child Line workers and three others made a complaint to the police of sexual molestation following the incident.
The girls confessed to the teachers that they were harassed at the gambling den for the last one- and- half years. The gambling den owner lured the girls with sweets and money, said the Child Line workers. Police said only physical molestation had taken place and a child has been identified to send for medical examination.
The school authorities called an urgent meeting of the PTA to discuss the incident. The Child Line workers collected details from the victims.
Meanwhile, MSF activists took out a march to the school where the children were studying. As MSF activists shouted slogans against a CPM leader whom they said was encouraging gambling, it resulted in clashes with the SFI activists.
Police chased away some media persons including television channel reporters who reached the Kumbla police station to collect the news of the SFI-MSF clashes.
The media persons later submitted a petition to the District Police Superintendent demanding action against Kumbla ASI for abusing them.
