Mangalore, March 11: New Mangalore Port Trust's '40th National Safety Week' programme concluded on March 10. The Week was observed from March 4 to 10.
Various competitions like slogan writing, drawing on safety, elocution competition, mock drills by the Port Fire Service and Marine Department of the Port on fire safety, bomb squad operation by CISF personnel etc. were conducted during the week long period.
On the occasion of the valedictory function held at NMPT Auditorium on Thursday, March 10, P Tamilvanan, Chairman, NMPT in his presidential address stressed the importance of safety in port operations and called for maintaining all the safety precautions while performing duty by all the employees.
He reiterated the Port's commitment to the safety and is hopeful of an accident free year ahead. He appealed to the Port Users to join hand with the Port in maintaining pollution free environment.
TSN Murthy, Dy. Chairman, NMPT who was the guest of honour, requested the gathering to review their contribution towards safety during the last one week.
S Gopalakrishna, Traffic Manager, NMPT delivered the key note address and welcomed the gathering. He stressed on the importance of safety of the country as well as home by comparing international standards.
H Shivaram, Safety Officer, NMPT proposed vote of thanks.
