Puttur, March 14: The presence of Bharatiya Janshakti Party chief Uma Bharati at the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha here fuelled speculation that the former Madhya Pradesh CM would rejoin her parent party BJP. Uma Bharti apparently is trying to seek blessings of the RSS leadership to pave her re-entry in to her parent party.
Uma Bharati was suspended from the BJP in November 2004 till further action and served a showcause notice asking why she should not be expelled following her outburst against L K Advani, in full glare of television cameras. However, due to RSS pressure, her suspension was revoked and in May 2005, she was appointed member of the party's national executive. She was however, expelled from the BJP later that year.
This was for her revolt against the appointment of Shivraj Singh Chauhan as the CM of Madhya Pradesh. After her expulsion, Uma Bharati undertook a padyatra' from Bhopal to Ayodhya and called it the Ram Roti Yatra.
The RSS top brass here were tight lipped about her presence at the venue. "She may be in Puttur, but I do not have information about her presence at the ABPS," said Ram Madhav, national executive committee member of RSS, when contacted by TOI. Police confirmed that Uma reached Puttur by road from Goa at around 4 pm. She has been provided with a pilot and an escort vehicle as she has got Z category security.
