Udupi, March 14: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharathi has announced join Pejawar Mutt pontiff Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji in his agitation against the ill effects of coal based power plant promoted by Udupi Power Corporation Limited (formerly Nagarjuna).
Speaking to press persons here on Monday, during her visit to Sri Krishna Temple, here, the firebrand leader Uma said that Pejawar Swamiji had explained her of ill effects of the coal based plant, causing environmental and health hazards and she was convinced by his words. She would be visiting the site on Tuesday along with Pejawar Swamiji, who would be returning from Hyderabad on Tuesday. She would hear the grievances of the people living around the project site.
“I had always fought for the cause of Karnataka. I had even lost the post of the Chief Minister for my agitation to hoist the 'Thiranga' in Idgah Maidan, Hubli. The protest against the Nagarjuna project would be as severe as that,” she said.
Replying a question that both BJP and its government were for the Nagarjuna project, Uma Bharathi said, “for me my Guru's words are final. Whether or not BJP supports the project or not is immaterial for me. There is no question of compromise in that matter.”
Replying another question Uma said that whatever may be the Supreme Court virdict entire Ayodhya belonged to Hindus and there was no question of parting with one third of Ayodhya land to Muslims.
Asked whether she would join BJP in the near future, “you better ask that to Gadkari,” she replied.
