Man posing as customer steals gold from shop

Kundapur, March 17: In a daring daylight robbery on Wednesday, a person posing as a stranger went to a jewellery shop at Kundapur near Church road and stole gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh.
The shop Gayathri Jewellers belongs to Ganesh Acharya. The incident took place at around 1.30 pm.
A person aged about 35 years posing as customer entered the shop when the owner was about to leave the place for lunch and bought a nose ring. Asking about particular design of nose ring he also paid an advance to the owner.
When Ganesh turned away to keep the other ornaments inside, the robber took away a box of ornaments and fled the scene.
However, realizing that the box was missing, the shopkeeper informed other shopkeepers and policemen. Police who rushed to the spot took some of the suspected persons into their custody. Finger print experts were brought to the spot.
A case has been registered in Kundapur police station and investigations are on.
