Mangalore, March 18: The Executive Committee meeting of Islamic Development Bank will be held at Patna in Bihar on March 28 and 29, according to its member and managing director of B A Group B Abdul Salam.

A review on the progress of the projects implemented in India with the financial assistance from IDB and discussion over the request for the funds for the various projects from across India will be the main agenda of the meeting, Salam said.
IDB will provide financial assistance to those institutions, and projects which contribute towards the social and educational development of Muslims in India.

In the last executive committee of the bank held at Jeddah in KSA, it was decided to render special concentration towards increasing and enhancing the representation of Muslims in the various administrative posts of Indian government.

Salam said that the discussion would concentrate more on the progress of Indian Muslims in the upcoming meeting, as it is going to be held in an Indian city itself. “IDB is willing to take appropriate steps to prevent Muslim students in this country leaving their formal education half way through and encourage them to pursue higher education and join government services in large numbers”, he said.

The Jeddah based IDB, has nine Indian members in its strong executive committee, out of whom, Abdul Salam is the only representative from the state of Karnataka.

Mangaluru: The Ullal police have arrested Manohar, the owner of Vazco Beach Resort, and its manager Bharath in connection with the drowning of three college girls from Mysuru at the resort’s swimming pool on November 17.

City Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal confirmed the arrests, stating that a case has been registered under Section 106 of BNS. The bodies of the victims, all in their twenties, have been handed over to their parents. The women had arrived at the resort for a weekend getaway on November 16.

Following the tragic incident, the resort was sealed by officials led by Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner Harshavardhan. The trade license of the resort, issued on June 13, 2024, has been suspended, and the tourism department has temporarily revoked the resort's registration. These actions prohibit the resort from engaging in any tourism-related activities until further notice.

Someshwara TMC Chief Officer stated that the suspension was due to the resort's failure to implement adequate safety measures, which resulted in the loss of three lives. Further investigations are underway.
