Mangalore, March 24: Pejawar seer Vishwesha Tirtha Swami who commenced his `nityopavasa on Saturday demanding closure of Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) till the problems related to fly ash and others is solved, has sought an audience with chief minister B S Yeddyurappa to discuss the issue.
In a letter to the CM on Wednesday, the seer said it was his opinion that the thermal power plant in Udupi district should be shut down till all environment related problems are solved.
The seers wish list includes, UPCL should follow all pollution control norms; use of latest technology to contain pollution and setting up of a permanent monitoring committee to avoid recurrence of environmental problems due to the plant.
The seer said he would end his fast once the problems created by UPCL are sorted out.
