Mangalore, March 24: Two cases of counterfeit currency have been reported from Mangalore North police and Bantwal town police station limits respectively.
Laxmisha Kamath, manager currency chest ICICI Bank, P M Rao Road, here in his complaint to Mangalore North PS stated that some unknown customers came to the branch and deposited cash. On checking, bank officials found 23 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denominations in the bundle.
Likewise, in a case registered in Bantwal Town PS, on the complaint of T V Shenoy, branch manager, Cooperation Bank, Bantwal, some unknown customers came to the bank and deposited cash.
On checking, bank officials found 11 counterfeit currency of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denominations.
Police have registered separate cases on complaints from the respective bank managers.
