Police Flag Day celebrated in city

Mangalore, April 2: Karnataka Police Flag and Welfare Day was celebrated on Saturday with two rounds of parade by six different contingents of police force and police band at Police Grounds in Mangalore.
Retired Police Sub Inspector Narayan Byndoor, who was the chief guest of the event, inspected the parade on a police jeep.
Speaking on the occasion, Byndoor called upon the Government to fulfil all the requirements of the Police, who have dedicated their life for the sake of maintaining law and order in the society.
“If the Government does its duty honestly and fulfills the necessities of the police officials and personnel the menace of corruption will disappear from the police department”, he said.
Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Alok Mohan, who presided over the function, released the police flag.
On the same occasion as many as two dozens of retired police officials were felicitated. Awards for those children of police officials who secured highest marks in SSLC and PUC examinations were also given away.
City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh welcomed the gathering. Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada district Labu Ram read out the annual report. DCP (crime) M Muthuraya proposed vote of thanks.
Administrative assistant of Badriya College S Moideen Kunni compered the programme.
