Bantwal, June 22: Bantwal Urban Development Authority (BUDA) President A Govinda Prabhu was arrested by Bantwal rural police for allegedly assaulting a electrical contractor at Ramanagara of Moodunadugodu in Bantwal taluk. However, the court released him on bail on Tuesday itself.

It was said that BUDA President had allegedly assaulted one Jagath alias Jagadeesh Poojary by barging into his house on Sunday. Based on the complaint, the police had filed cases against nine persons. Jagath was a contractor and was carrying out the work related to the Bantwal TMC for the last 10 years. Unfortunately, he did not get the contract this time.

In a complaint, Jagath had alleged that a four member gang had entered his house on Sunday and assaulted him and his wife and kids. The miscreants had also broken the chairs.

In the meantime, Govind Prabhu said that his name has been unnecessarily dragged into the case. Other accused are still absconding.

MLA B Ramanath Rai said that BUDA President A Govinda Prabhu should tender resignation to the post which he is holding for allegedly entering into the house of a electrical contractor and assaulting him.
