Mangalore, June 22: Dr Emmanuel Lalith Kumar, Lecturer in History, SMS College, Brahmavar, who was dismissed from service on flimsy grounds has been ordered by the High Court of Karnataka to be reinstated with immediate effect.

The High Court upheld the order of the Education Appellate Tribunal of Udupi and rejected the writ petition of the Management of SMS College namely OSC Educational Society.

According to a press release from AMUCT, earlier the Education Appellate Tribunal had taken serious note of the dismissal without an enquiry by the Management.

The Tribunal had observed that the dismissal order is against the principles of natural justice.

AMUCT President Ummappa Poojary and Amuct General Secretary Dr Denis Fernandes have demanded that Prof Emmanuel be immediately reinstated by the Management with all service benefits and required compensation and serious agitation will be planned if the Court order is not obeyed.

The Karnataka government has announced that Nandini milk will become ₹4 costlier per litre starting April 1, 2025. This is the second price hike this year.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Karnataka Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna and Animal Husbandry Minister K Venkatesh said the increase is meant to support dairy farmers by covering the rising costs of producing and processing milk.

Officials also said that:

>> The extra money from the price hike will go directly to the milk producers.

>> The earlier ₹2 price hike (announced on June 26, 2024) will be withdrawn.

>> The new price hike of ₹4 will apply to both 500 ml and 1-litre packets.
