A tea merchant by profession he was also associated with a number of organizations including Crescent Welfare Centre in Bunder Mangalore.
He was suffering from various ailments over the last one year and had been hospitalized for nearly 50 days. He had developed several complications after he contracted an infection in the intestine.
He breathed his last at around 4am at A.J. Hospital, the family sources said.
He had undergone bypass surgery about seven years ago in Bangalore and had been in good health in the subsequent years.
A resident of Kandathpalli area, Mr Ibrahim is survived by wife, six sons and two daughters. He is also the brother of late Mohammed Hussain, a Janata Dal leader, who contested Loksabha elections in late 80s from Mangalore.
The janazah and burial will take place after Asar Namaz at Kandathpalli, according to family sources.
