A single bench court headed by Justice Anand Byra Reddy upheld the decision taken by the Syndicate of Mangalore University to take strict disciplinary action against Prof Thippeswamy.
The University had terminated Thippeswamy, who was facing a sexual misconduct charge, from service.
The Registrar (administration) of the University K Chinnappa Gowda had issued an order after the Syndicate of the university in its April 13, 2011 meeting resolved to order for the “compulsory retirement” of S Thippeswamy.
The order copy of the April 15, 2011 said: “Dr Thippeswamy is ordered to have compulsorily retired from the services of the university.”
