Mangalore, June 29: A man, who tried to deceive a married woman after developing physical relationship with her, was forced to tie the marital knot with her by the activists of Jaya Karnataka.
Rajesh, a resident of Kumpala near Kotekar and Poornima of same village entered into wedlock at Subrahmanya Temple in Dogarkeri here.
Poornima, after being deserted by her husband was leading a lonely life. Rajesh, who entered her life at this time as a friend gradually developed physical relationship with her and fathered a baby, which died in nine months. Despite living together, the couple had not formally got married.
However, concerned by the recent changes in Rajesh's attitude, Poornima informed about the issue to her brother Kantharaju, who persuaded him to the office of Jaya Karnataka on Tuesday.
The Jaya Karnataka activists, with the help of warnings, succeeded in convincing Rajesh to marry Poornima at the Dongarkeri Temple.
Mangalore unit president of Jaya Karnataka Sudhir Pinto and other members were present.
The activists also brokered a deal between the couple, according to which they have to register their marriage within 10 days and Poornima's children from her ex-husband should be looked after by her younger brother Shreekanth.
