Mangalore, June 29: In a curious incident, a parked car moved a few yards on its own and plunged into the backwaters of fisheries port here on Wednesday, before the very eyes of dozens of people.
It is said that the car was parked in neutral gear.
Abu Hurairah, a resident of Ullal, who had purchased the Maruti Suzuki Swift only a week ago suffered a loss of at least Rs 30,000 in the incident, which occurred around noon.
The owner along with his driver visited the city in the morning and parked the vehicle at fisheries port and left for their personal works.
A half an hour later a local shop keeper informed Abu Hurairah that his newly purchased vehicle has fallen off the edge into the water.
After an hour-long effort a crane lifted the shining car, which is yet to be registered, off the water.
