The Alto car landed straight over the road-divider, when the lady-driver lost control over it, while moving towards Bendur from St Theresa School at around 8:30 a.m.
While the driver blamed the slippery road for the accident, local residents blamed the over-speed driving and reluctance of Mangalore City Corporation to install humps.
Local residents are of the opinion that the slippery surface of the roads in this area, where there are seven prominent educational institutions, is a threat to the thousands of students, motorists and pedestrians.
They have urged the MCC to install humps to avoid further tragedies.
