Mangalore, July 5: Street-side and foot-path vendors petitioned Mangalore City Police against the excesses committed by the civic-tiger in crack-down against the hawkers around city-bus terminus and Lady Goschen Hospital area and other parts of the city.
A delegation comprising the members of 'Beedi Badi Vyaparasthara Horata Samiti' including Vasanth Achary and Sunil Kumar Bajal met Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) M Muthuraya on Monday and handed over a memorandum urging the police to stop use of force against street-side and foot-path vendors and not to violate their rights.
The delegation also complaint that MCC is misusing the police force in its crack-down on street vendors.
Mr Bajal told that civic tiger squad several times looted the vegetables and fruits stored by hawkers in secret spots before starting the business in the morning.
