Farooq was produced before Second JMFC Court here on Thursday. The judge, who noticed that Farooq was sick, ordered for providing him immediate treatment and remanded him in judicial custody.
He was admitted to Government Wenlock Hospital for treatment, and expected to be discharged after a few days.
He was arrested at Devanahalli International Airport in Bangalore on July 4 by immigration officials and later was handed over to the CID.
Mangalore Police had issued a lookout notice against Umar Farooq, based on the confession purported to have been made by Madoor Isubu, who is in custody, about Advocate Farooq's involvement in the alleged conspiracy to kill Harish Rai, another city based advocate.
It can be recalled that Farooq was a witness in Naushad Kashimji murder case.
