Mangalore, July 12: Fuel supply in coastal Karnataka disrupted as drivers of tankers transporting oil from Indian Oil Corporation on Monday went on a sudden strike.
The drivers resorted to protest after they came to know that few of the tankers, transporting fuel from IOC situated near Tannirbavi, had been sized for allegedly stealing the oil.
Although 180 to 200 tankers transport fuel every day from IOC, only 34 kerosene-filled tankers on Monday were seen plying.
“It is not right to suspect us and treat us like thieves for the difference found in the quantity of the fuel before and after transportation,” said one of the protesters.
The protesters were demanding that the seized tankers should immediately be released.
