DGP, wife, two others injured in road mishap

Mangalore, July 15: A senior IPS officer and his wife got injured in what could be a fatal road mishap at Kanyady village of Belthangady taluk near here on Friday.

The Director General of Police of Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services Dr. D V Guruprasad (59) and his wife were travelling towards Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, when a speeding private bus plying from Dharmasthala to Mangalore, hit their Innova car, said Belthangady police.

Nagaraj, who was driving the department's car and Balachandra, a constable, who was accompanying the couple, too sustained injuries in the accident that took place at 11:20 a.m.

All the four injured were rushed to AJ Hospital in Mangalore, after first aid treatment in a local hospital.

A case has been registered at Belthangady police station. The bus driver identified as 40 year old Abdul Azeez has been arrested.
