Mangalore, July 22: A woman died after the dupatta of her salwar kameez got entangled in a running electrical grinder in the kitchen of her home at Baithar, a hamlet in Harekala village near here.
The deceased has been identified as Rukiya (36), wife of Saleem, a sand mining labourer.
The incident occurred while she was grinding coconut on Thursday at around 9:30 a.m., when there was no one at home except two of her mall children, who were busy in playing and couldn't notice their mother's tragedy. Among her four other children, two had gone to school and two to tailoring class.
Her husband, who had gone out to bring fire wood, returned home at around 10:30 a.m. to witness the scene of Rukiya fighting for her life.
He immediately cut off the dupatta, and rushed her to the hospital with the help of neighbours.
However, Rukiya breathed her last in the hospital without responding to the treatment.
