Addressing at SC/ST grievance meet organised by the City Police Commissionerate at its auditorium here on Sunday, Mr Pai said that every year this fund is being sent back to the government, from the office of Deputy Commissioner to where it was allocated, as there were no takers for it.
He said the complainants and witnesses should claim for this bata with the proof to their respective Thahasildars, who is supposed to release the fund on the basis of court attendance.
Mr Pai also lamented that the cell was facing acute shortage of staff. He said the cell has only 24 staff to review the progress of work and the implementation of funds provided for the members of SC/ST community.
Ramkumar P, General Secretary, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Adi- Dravid Samaja Seva Sangha, said that the members of Adi-Dravid Samaja were not the Dalits and they should not be addressed as 'Harijan' too, he said.
S P Anand, Dalit leader complained that the Ambedkar Bhavan constructed at Inoli under Pavoor Gram Panchayat did not carry the nameplate. He said the classes for students of 8th, 9th and 10th standards of Government School are being conducted at Bhavan causing inconvenience to conduct the programmes.
DCPs Muthuraya and Dharmaiah were present in the meeting.
