Mangalore, July 26: In a bid to reduce the rush of LPG consumers coming for the verification purposes, Deputy Commissioner Dr N S Channappa Gowda has directed the officials of Food and Civil Supplies Department to open four more counters in the department which is located in the premises of Deputy Commissioner's office.
The department, which struggled to cope up on Tuesday as a large number of people thronged to submit various documents, received the additional support of these four counters.
DC's direction came after witnessing long queues of LPG consumers getting their connection status verified or updated in the office of food and civil supplies.
Sharanabasappa, the Deputy Director of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, appealed to people not to panic as there was 15 day time to rectify the problem. “There will be no disconnection immediately. But, I cannot say if the deadline would be extended beyond 15 days. It is up to the government to decide on this,” he added.
