Mangalore, July 28: Cultural competitions will be organised for the students of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on occasion of the annual Sri Sharada Mahotsava at Sharada Vidyalaya.
Competitions will be held on 5th, 6th and 8th of August, a press release said here on Wednesday.
It is organised to instill a feeling of pride and interest about art and culture, among the children. This will help in making the future citizens of our country cultured, said M B Puranik, president of Sharada Vidyalaya addressing the media persons here on Wednesday.
The competitions will be held for students from 1st standard to PUC across 4 divisions and there will be no entrance fee. Painting, folk dance, singing, Baharathanatyam and Bhagavadgita recitation competition will be held on Aug 5, Nrithya Bajane, Bharathanatyam on Aug 6 and Yogasana and Rangoli competitions will be held on Aug 8.
Winners will be awarded cash prizes with a first prize of 500 Rs, second prize of Rs 400 and a third prize of Rs. 300.
Dr. Leela Upadhyay, Principal, Sharada PU College, Mrs. Sunitha V Madi, Principal, Sharada Vidyalaya, Dayananda Kateel, Vice Principal, Sharada Vidyalaya were present.
