Uppinangady, July 28: Three year old son of Avvamma alias Ayisha who was found dead in a rivulet near Nalaiguri in Uppinangady accused his father Sulaiman of killing his mother.
The body of Ayisha, daughter of Ahmed Kunhi who married to Sulaiman in 2007 was found dead near a rivulet at her husband's sister Mariamma's house on Tuesday morning.
In a complaint to Puttur ASP, Thahasildar and Women and Children Welfare Department lodged by Rahimath Banu, sister of Ayisha quoted Muhammad Aman, son of the deceased saying his father murdered Ayisha.
She also informed that none of the family members of Sulaiman attended burial ritual of Ayisha which was held at Nelyadi.
“Neither they attended burial nor they came for postmortem procedure at Puttur,” she said and added that suspicious behavior of Sulaiman's family members indicates their involvement in the death of Ayisha.
She complained that Ayisha had informed her parents that her husband Sulaiman, his mother Nebisa, sisters Avvamma, Khairunnisa, Mariamma and his brothers-in-law Puttumonu and Ibrahim were torturing her mentally and physically to bring more dowry.
“During her marriage we had given dowry of Rs 1 lakh along with 35 pawan gold jewelry. Following repeated torture meted out to my sister, we gave additional Rs 75,000 to them,” she complained.
She urged the police to investigate the case comprehensively and put the culprits behind the bars.
Meanwhile, police failed to trace the whereabouts of Sulaiman who fled the scene soon after he saw the dead body of Ayisha lying near rivulet. When contacted, Rural Police Inspector B K Manjaiah said they couldn't trace any clues about Sulaiman. His mobile phone remains switched off after the incident, it is learnt.
