Mangalore, July 29: As part of its annual education campaign under the promulgation 'Education for Prosperous Society', the education cell of New Age India Forum (NAIF), a city based NGO will honour the students who are economically backward in the city on July 30.
Saleem Malar, Convener, Education Cell of NAIF told media persons here that awards and cash prizes will be given away to the deserved students at the function, which will commence at 4:00 pm at Jamiyathul Falah Auditorium, Kankanady.
Two students who have scored highest marks in SSLC and PUC would be awarded with “Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Award” and “Dr Allama Iqbal Award” respectively, he said.
The month-long campaign was inaugurated at Crescent School on July 2. As part of the campaign various programmes were held at Noorul Huda Katipalla, Thumbay College, B M School Ullal and Mudipu.
He said during the campaign, the NAIF found that several students in rural areas were deprived from the primary education, poverty acted as hindrance for higher education, need of counseling, library and laboratory etc.
K S Mohammed Masood, Former Chairman, Karnataka State Minorities Commission will inaugurate the award ceremony. Prof. Radhakrishna Rao Kandila, Professor of Commerce, Badriya Pre-University College, M C Abbas, Founder Member of Arabic Academy, Mangalore will be the chief guests.
Rafiuddeen Kudroli, District President, NAIF will preside over the programme.
