Mangalore, August 7: Rotaract Club, Mangalore City in association with Barke Friends and Mannagudda New Friends organised a special programme 'Aadi Haadi Aati' to celebrate Aati, a special month of Tulu calendar, at Ganapathy Pre University College on Saturday.
The programme was symbolically inaugurated with a dance of Aati Kalanja, a spirit of Tulu Nadu.
Speaking on the occasion Vaman Nandavar, former President Karnataka State Tulu Sahitya Academy said that Aati is a season to heavy rain, prosperity and time to focus on our cultural rituals.
Shantakumari Devi, Principal, Ganapathy PU College said that during the Aati season, people occasionally include vegetables, plants with medicinal and nutritional values in their diet, in order to increase immunity.
Artist Dinesh Holla was given a warm felicitation on the occasion.
Belthangady Kuttur Mahila Sangatane exhibited an array of mouthwatering food items made out of vegetables and pickles on the occasion.
