Mangalore, August 8: As part of diamond jubilee year celebration of the Mangalore Airport, a two day national conference on “Indian Aviation and Tourism: Opportunities, Challenges and New Directions” will be held at the old terminal building of Mangalore Airport on August 21 and 22.
Announcing this at a press meet here on Monday, K Tejomaya, the chief coordinator of the Mangalore Airport Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee said that the convention will be held under the supervision of Prof Mallikarjunappa, Head, Department of Business and Tourism Administration, Mangalore University.
He said that the delegates from different parts of the country and abroad are expected to take part in the conference as papers have been received from the University of Southern Mississippi, USA, Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria-Australia and former Senior Legal Aid Counsel-Hong Kong, The Kingdom University, Kingdom of Bahrain, South Africa, IIM (Kozhikode), Universities, Colleges and organisations from various states of the country and from tourism Industry professionals.
About 100 delegates are expected from outside Mangalore University and that total number of delegates is expected to be about 175-200, he said.
There is a good mixture of papers from different disciplines like the eco-tourism, geo-tourism, cultural tourism, role of information technology in medical tourism, tourism and aviation etc., he informed.
Prof Sandeep Kulshreshtha from Indian Institute of travel and Tourism Management, Gwalior, Prof Y Venkat Rao from Pondichery University, Prof Jayaram from Madurai Kamraj University, Giorgio Magistrelli from Italy will be the resource persons among others.
