Cases against Christians: Bishop expects the best from CM

Mangalore, August 12: Mangalore diocese Bishop Most Rev Aloysius Paul D' Souza has expressed hope that the new Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda would take appropriate measures to withdraw cases filed against Christians in connection with the attacks on Churches in 2008.

The Bishop called on Mr Sadananda Gowda at his official residence in Bangalore on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum to him asking to withdraw all the cases filed against Christians in connection with the clashes following the attack on churches in 2008.

“The CM, who listened to the appeal of the Bishop responded positively and assured to take up matter at the earliest”, said a press release.

“It is a matter of happiness and pride to say that the new Chief Minister is from Dakshina Kannada and a former student of St Philomena College Puttur which comes under the Catholic Board of Education, the registered society of the Diocese of Mangalore”, he said.
