Mangalore, August 19: Ahmed Riyaz, 15 a student of eighth standard at Bharath High School, who was missing for six days since August 13, returned to his family after an interesting saga of events on Friday.
Fearing that his father may punish him for skipping school, Riyaz had run away from his residence at Ullal last Saturday and slept on the premises of Sayyid Madani Durga.
It is said that he was approached by a man named Rafiq who took him on a train towards Chennai the following morning. Riyaz was said to have got down at the Kannur and ran to the police station to escape from Rafiq.
After returning home Riyaz revealed that he was prevented from running away by Rafiq. They had roamed around on a motorbike which Riyaz alleged belonged to a person Rafiq had murdered.
Riyaz also said that he was taken into custody by the police in Kannur while Rafiq was 'let away' as he showed a card claiming mental disorder.
Riyaz is said to have helped by a Christian family, who gave bath and fed him before handing over to the children's police station.
Ullal police were informed about the boy's whereabouts, after which his parents fetched him back home from Thalassery.
His mother Sakina, said that her son was taken by a member of a gang whose family business was to sell Marijuana.
