Mangalore, August 24: Democratic Youth Federation of India on Wednesday urged the Mangalore City Police to take action against all the miscreants who were behind attacking the youth celebrating a birthday party in a guest house near Ullal recently.
Bajrang Dal activists have claimed their role in the raid on birthday party. The assailants are accused of making away with cash and other valuables. They had also caused damage to the property of the guest house.
The DYFI delegation led by its district President Muneer Katipalla met City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh at his office and handed over a memorandum, which stated that actions of Bajrang Dal would create terror in the minds of the people.
It demanded that the unrestricted “moral policing” should be curtailed by the police. Acts such as the raid at on birthday party has a potential to spark riots in the region as coastal Karnataka is a very sensitive region when it comes to communal issues, the it said.
It also demanded the police to immediately arrest all the accused in this case including District convener of Bajrang Dal Sharan Pompwell and take stringent action against them to ensure law and order in the district.
Police should also send a clear message to miscreants disguised in the name of religious organisations”, it said.
