Mangalore, August 25: The number of passengers using the Mangalore airport has increased to 4.74 lakh during the first seven months of the year as against 4.83 lakh during the same period last year.
Director of airport M. R. Vasudeva said that international traffic increased from 1.38 lakh passengers to 1.46 lakh passengers and domestic passenger traffic increased from 3.36 lakh passengers to 3.37 lakh passengers during the period.
On the contrary, the volume of flight movements have come down during the same period. The total movement of flights, including domestic and international, ame down to 5,572 from 6,288 last year.
With some more domestic flights scheduled to operate from the winter schedule starting from October 25m air traffic would increase. The weekly movements would increase from 147 now to 194 and this would push the passenger traffic up to nine lakh by the end of the year.
