Mangalore, August 26: Deputy Commissioner Dr N S Channappa Gowda has suspended a second division clerk in Bantwal taluk office, for dereliction of duty.
During a surprise visit to the office, DC found that clerk Gretta had failed to distribute more than 700 caste and income certificates to the applicants spread over three hoblis of the taluk. He directed officials concerned to ensure that the certificates were hand delivered to the respective applicants immediately, said an official press release issued here.
The DC also directed the tahsildar to withhold the salaries of two case workers who had failed to disburse amount given by the state government in 286 cases to next of kin of below poverty line families to perform the last rites of their family members. Beneficiaries covered under the Anthyodaya programme are eligible to receive Rs 1,000 to perform the last rites if one among the beneficiaries pass away and this has to be paid immediately.
Dr Gowda also reviewed various pendency cases and warned officials not to unnecessarily delay clearing files or harass beneficiaries of various government schemes.
