Mangalore, August 28: Serial thieves have continued to target shops within the city, as three more shops were burgled on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday near Attavar and Marnamikatta.
The thieves gained entry into Megha electronics at Attavar and took away 25 mobile phones worth Rs 75,000 from there. These included nine demonstration sets, five used sets and 11 new hand sets. The culprits also took away Rs 7,000 in cash kept in the shop. The burglars have also ransacked Ganesh electronics near Attavara and a cyber centre in Marnamikatta.
Mangalore South Police visited the spot on Sunday morning for inspection before registering a case.
In the previous night thieves had targeted seven shops in the city and stolen mobile handsets from one of those shops located near Rao and Rao circle.
It can be recalled that last Sunday night thieve had targetted a jewellery store, two mobile shops and two cloth stores in Suratkal.
The continuing spate of thefts rocking the region has left the citizens in a state of anxiety.
Since thieves employed similar method to gain entry into the shops in all three serial theft cases, police are of the suspicion that it might be the work of a single gang.
The police are yet to nab the people involved in a series of thefts in Suratkal and Mangalore.
